Republicans Need To Get Back To Basics

Why did the Republicans take control of congress in 1996?

It was the height of the Clinton administration in what was once called the golden age of Democrats (they are probably going to call the Obama administration the golden age now). It wasn’t because people were ready for change or because the Democrats were in a scandal. It was simply because Republicans ran on conservatism. In any debate against liberalism, conservatism always wins. They didn’t need fancy PR or big advertising budgets. The Republicans of 12 years ago simply ran on the basic principle that conservatism works. They showed that the Democrats will say or do anything to get elected and the Republicans had the backbone to stand up for what they believe in.

Since then the Republicans began to act like Democrats. They began to say what people wanted to hear in an attempt to maintain seats. Republicans lost, big time. Liberalism still doesn’t work, but with no conservatism to shed the light on how faulty it is the Republicans fell apart. They chose John McCain to represent them in the 2008 election because he was a “modern day Ronald Reagan.” McCain was just cannon fodder for the Obama campaign. Like the rest of the republicans, he was too spineless to stand up there and hit Obama on the issues. He danced around issues like Obama’s socialistic tax plan or his association with terrorists. The entire Republican party should be held at fault, in their pandering to the moderates they allowed the most liberal member of the senate to be elected President of the United States. Someone with no executive experience, someone who rarely takes a stand on any issue, and someone with an agenda to end the America of our forefathers. Disgusting.
