If We Don’t Drill, They Will

After watching President Bush’s speech asking congress to drill in coastal regions as well as the democrat response, I felt one issue was severely overlooked. These oil fields on our coast are so massive that they extend into international waters, giving any country the right to drill for that oil. In the gulf of Mexico, China has already established several oil platforms. Anyone who knows anything about China knows the environment is the last thing on their minds. So if environmental issues are the reason democrats won’t lift the ban on drilling in the coast regions, China will be glad to. And if they have an oil spill on our beaches, it isn’t their problem. China is drilling only 50 miles off the coast of the Florida keys, if you think thats far think again. Currents in the golf would carry that oil to the beach within 2 hours. I’d rather have our country get the revenue, our country implement the environmental controls, and have our gas prices go down.
